Learning From Our Staff: A Lateral Goodness Survey in Red Lake Nation

Red Lake Nation actively uses data to support and manage its child welfare workforce. They surveyed staff to better understand agency strengths and gather feedback on employees’ experiences working within their child welfare agency. They did this through a Lateral Goodness Survey. According to American Indian Health Services, lateral goodness is a resilience factor and a way to promote positive change that empowers individuals and communities. Ninety-seven percent of Red Lake Nation survey respondents felt that they experienced lateral goodness within the agency. This video describes why their leadership team decided to create the survey and what they learned by administering it to their workforce.
