Tlingit & Haida Tribes of Alaska: Child Welfare Workforce Practices
The Central Council of the Tlingit & Haida Tribes of Alaska’s Tribal Family & Youth Services (TFYS) is strengthening its child welfare program and workforce systems. Tlingit & Haida child welfare services must meet the needs of a widespread, multi-state tribal citizen population and is working with the QIC-WA to strengthen its workforce capacity (e.g., caseload balance, onboarding, and data-informed supervision) so tribal community members can receive consistent, high-quality services that honor sovereignty and traditional values.
This brief was created for tribal child welfare agencies and tribal-serving child welfare agencies. It is intended to educate readers about the Tlingit & Haida’s development of a practice model that helps TFYS advance toward a standardized, Tlingit & Haida-specific approach to child welfare practice.
