Tlingit & Haida Tribes of Alaska: Child Welfare Workforce Practices

The Central Council of the Tlingit & Haida Tribes of Alaska’s Tribal Family & Youth Services (TFYS) is strengthening its child welfare program and workforce systems. TFYS and tribal leadership use workforce data such as staffing levels, vacancies/turnover, onboarding timelines, caseload distribution, and supervision/training needs, to pinpoint operational bottlenecks and prioritize improvements. This brief is intended to educate readers about the development of a model that helps TFYS advance toward a standardized, Tlingit & Haida-specific approach to child welfare practice supported by a stable workforce.
